Look up domain and IP registration data
Registration records explain who published a domain or IP block, which registrar or RIR holds it, and when the record was updated. The fields you see are whatever the registry currently makes public.
Use WHOIS when you need to confirm a domain’s registrar, inspect name-server hints, or identify the organization listed on a public IP block. It is a registry lookup, not a geolocation tool and not a guarantee of the current website operator.
Queries are sent to public WHOIS/RDAP services for the name or IP you enter. NetScope does not keep a search history of those lookups.
How to use this tool
- Enter a fully qualified domain or a public IP address. Private and documentation ranges are rejected.
- Run the lookup and note which protocol returned data (WHOIS or RDAP).
- Read status, dates, and contact fields with privacy redaction in mind. Empty fields are often policy, not a failed query.

Frequently asked questions
Why is registrant contact data hidden?
Many registrars redact personal details to follow privacy laws. An organization name or registrar abuse contact may still be present.
Can WHOIS tell me who hacked a site?
No. It shows published registration data. After a domain is transferred or parked, the current website operator may not match the record you expected.
